Wednesday 31st July 2013 saw members of the Rotary Club of Horbury and Ossett Phoenix, led by their President David Maynard, weeding and digging two large herbaceous beds in Carr Lodge Park, Horbury, before planting 20 new, but established, plants in the gaps within the beds. They were working with Mick Duffield from WMDCs Street Scene Team and were joined by Councillor Jack Hemingway who also got involved with the planting.

The work was part of the WMDC Love your Parks Week but for the Rotary Club this was the latest in a long record of improvement and maintenance work they have completed in the park in partnership with the Council, Friends of Carr Lodge Park and The Common Lands Trust. President Dr David Maynard said,
