The combined efforts of Ossett Rotary, and Horbury and Ossett Phoenix Rotary have provided personal issue dictionaries to pupils across the district during the past few weeks, including for the first time West Bretton Junior & Infants (J&I) , Horbury Bridge J&I, St Peters Horbury J&I and Horbury Primary Academy.
It is intended that the project will be further expanded, in 2025, by including the Netherton and Middlestown schools.
In all, 134 pupils at the four schools mentioned, received dictionaries this year. Next year a total of 520 dictionaries will be distributed.
The dictionary scheme is a good example of two Rotary clubs working together - with Ossett Rotary taking a lead and introducing the project to us and then going forward together for the benefit of young people in our communities.
