Gina-Fielding-FMNCHWhen she last visited the Club, in March 2009, Gina Fielding of the Forget Me Not Children's Hospice spoke of the then current plans to establish a purpose built facility to care for children in Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield who had life limiting conditions, together with supporting their parents and families. Visiting again on January 12th, she was able to give an update on progress made so far.

In 2011, the building (Russell House) was completed and work is now ongoing to finish the interior. The Hospice at Home service has already commenced with support being provided by staff, giving specialist advice, medications and providing care. Gina explained that once the hospice was completely finished, the all important Certification would be possible, allowing residential care to commence. She was hopeful that this would happen in the first half of the year.

Thanking Gina for her presentation, President Roger Parkinson, on behalf of the Rotary Club of Horbury and Ossett Phoenix, handed over a cheque for £1500, wishing her and the Hospice well in the future.
