Left to Right Senior Youth Leader Mark Robinson and Phoenix President Mike Bradley

As an organisation based in the Horbury & Ossett area, Horbury & Ossett Phoenix Rotary Club has a commitment to support and help to build its local community. "The Breakthru Youth Project was founded by Horbury Council of Churches and has been running since 2000. Its aim is to provide youth groups and activities for young people in and around the Horbury area, and to run weekends away for youngsters. The Club has supported the Project financially in the past and welcomed the opportunity to do so again when the Project's Senior Youth Leader Mark Robinson and one of its Trustees John Gallagher visited and addressed the Club on 30 September. Members heard about the range of activities and support offered by the Project to young people in the area, and a cheque for £500 was presented to Mark by Club President Mike Bradley, who has nominated the Project as one of his selected Charities to receive donations during his Presidential year.

The Rotary challenge for 2010/11 is to "build communities and bridge continents". In this spirit, donations to Charities working internationally are also proposed.
